Another Borodino Playtest—the flêches
The Australian Kriegspielers recently conducted a playtest of the southern, flêches sector of the Borodino battlefield. Have a look at the post on Sparker's blog to see the photos of the fabulous terrain, beautifully painted figures (including a particularly stunning Platov and some fine looking Poles) and to read about the interesting outcome!
I note Sparker's observation that the commanders played the game fairly predictably and are "keeping any clever moves to themselves until the big day!" We'll be keenly following that game fellas!
Le Shakko
I am still 'discovering' the activities of groups who have already played bicentennial games. A fine example of this is Club Le Shakko of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Paris.
They have posted accounts and photos of their games based on Eckmuhl and Berezina, which they played in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Their snow-covered terrain for the latter game is brilliant. Simple and very effective; looks great! What big Napoleonic game do you have planned for 2012; Borodino?
(As a one who uses 1/72nd scale figures, I was particularly pleased to see such large numbers of Airfix 20 mm figures on the tabletop!)
